Yasothon Bun Bangfai - Thailand

Rocket Festival

If the sight of colorful rockets piercing through the sky exhilarates you, then a trip to the ‘Thailand Rocket Festival’ is a must. Celebrated with much fervour and enthusiasm by the people of Yasothon community in North-Eastern Thailand, the latest edition of the Rocket Festival is slated to be held in the ‘Phaya Thaen Park’ between May.

Known in Thailand as ‘Yasothon Bun Bang Fai’, the festival is a unique way which the Thai people have adopted to please the rain god ‘Vassakan’ who loved to be worshipped with fire. Since the rockets produce fire and reach high in the sky, they believe that the rain god would be delighted with such fireworks and bless them with abundant rainfall to nurture their newly planted crops.

The festival begins with traditional Thai dishes being served to all and sundry on the first day of the festival. The second day of the carnival is the ‘Procession Day’ where sophisticated hand-made rockets are mounted on traditional carts & displayed in a parade. On the third day numerous competitions are held to judge the team whose rockets have performed well in the sky. Losing teams whose rockets do not perform well have to jump in the mud as part of an old Thai tradition. Played with great sporting spirit the festival offers wholesome entertainment for all three days and plays an important role in cultural assimilation of all segments of the Thai society.

If you want to grab a piece of the action then ask your travel agent to plan your next holidays to Thailand to coincide with this festival so that you and your family are treated to some sky-rocketing adventure in Thailand next year.

sawadee - My trip to Land of smiles

My tour to the 'Land of smiles', first words which i hear while arriving in Bangkok was sawadee. The taxi took me to hotels Grand Mercure Park Avenue, i was in business trip so i have limited time to enjoy city.

After putting my luggage i get fresh and take a cup of tea. Then i call the room service boy and ask him what is the best option to visit in Bangkok he suggest me to take BTS or the sky train. I decide to travel via train to siam station a shopping district. Among all i like food hall and i also want to tell the visitor who are coming to Bangkok that do not miss Food hall. It is divided into three different zones Food Hall Food Court, Food Hall Gallery and Food Hall Take Home.

MBK and central world malls are just a few walk from Siam. But be careful while buying anything as you may face fake merchandise so buy at your own risk here. You can pick up a few bargains if you are expert in shopping.

I headed back to the hotel but one most important thing which i have to do is foot massage of which Bangkok is famous for. It was almost midnight when i enter to massage parlors and i could not believe that they welcome like a princess.

My trip to Bangkok was really a buzz one.

Buddhism in Thailand

Thai Buddha" or did some one  state  "Theravada Buddhism?" Are we going to  converse  about a  figurine  or a religion? In  short,  we will  manage  some of both. After  reconsidering   numerous   distinct   world  broad  web  sites on Buddhism in Thailand finding so  numerous   diverse   attitudes,   customs  and  occasionally   inconsistent   data,  my  mind  turned into mush.
As a belief, Buddhism came to Thailand with traveling monks out of India (1292), who first took up homage in Nakorn Sri Dhammaraja; a very very vintage town in the south province of Thailand. Thai Buddhism disagrees in practices and scholars have adversity following all the variances between districts in addition to accounting for subtle leverages of Hinduism, "magical" practices, animistic beliefs. {A conviction that spirits live not only in humans but furthermore in all other animals, plants, rocks, and even natural phenomena for example thunder, rainfall or geographic characteristics for example hills or rivers.} The early versions of the Indian Theravada Pali canon are still being utilized in relative investigations for correctness and oral custom through out Thailand.

You might be marvelling on how localized Thai celebrates this one time a year event. On this day, they commemorate the revered Buddha by travelling to the monasteries and offer prayers while expanding the blessings that they have obtained by giving alms to the monks after feeding them with the nourishment they prepared. They arrange sufficient for this large-scale happening by methodical cleansing of their dwelling beforehand. Thais accept as factual that they have to clean and rejuvenate not only their dwelling but more particularly themselves. They eliminate all the dwelling garbage and bathe Buddha pictures in order that they'll have prosperous year ahead.
Thailand's New Year commemoration is incomplete without the Big Water Battle. Even the motorist and by passers are unexcused for not being soaked on water on that day. Water is the emblem for cleansing and eliminating all the awful things from the past and takes away the awful luck for the entire year ahead. So you should be blessed if you get drenched with water.
